Duas casas, uma família e um pátio. Este foi um exercício sinceramente gratificante para mim, já que pude ensaiar um dos eternos problemas da arquitectura, a coordenação de um oximoro entre linguagem moderna e a vernácula identidade portuense. As aberturas organizam-se de forma a que recebam luz, principalmente, do pátio interior e do jardim. Para o exterior há só a “velha” fachada com quatro janelas e o muro. Neste exercício maturaram-se conceitos já existentes, numa direcção mais humana. Tal como afirma Wright, não é estar preso a tradicionalismos, mas essencialmente seguir a grande tradição.

Two houses, a family and a patio. This was a truly rewarding exercise for me, since I was able to test one of the perennial problems of architecture, the coordination of an oxymoron between modern language and the Oporto vernacular identity. The vents are organized so that they receive light mainly of the interior courtyard and garden. To the outside there is only the “old” facade with four windows and the wall. This exercise matured the existing architectural concepts in a more humane direction. As Wright says, is not being tied to traditionalisms, but essentially follow the great tradition.
